Twin-Screw Diesel Tugboats

TSGI was contracted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District to design, construct, test and deliver two identical twin-screw diesel-powered great lakes tugboats. These tugboats will provide mobilization of various pieces of floating plant on the St. Mary’s River, upper great lakes, and the Soo Harbor, as well as breaking ice up to 12” thick and performing ice scraping operations at the St. Mary’s Falls Canal. The principal missions of the vessels include scraping ice from St. Mary’s Falls Canal lock chamber walls and miter gates and handling various deck and hopper barges utilized to transport marine construction and dredging materials.
